Hello, I am hoping for some guidance researching a Jewish family in Amsterdam who I believe to be of Sephardic origin (but may be Ashkenazi - I would be interested in your thoughts about this). The family name is LIEST. I am attaching one of the earliest original records I have about the family - the marriage certificate of Meijer Moses LIEST and Judic Moses VEERJONG from 1844.Moses is listed as aged 32, 'bootblack' (schoenpoetser), son of Moses Machiel LIEST and Beeletje Levie SCHAAP. Bride listed as a seamstress, aged 26, d of Moses Jonas VEERJONG, a hawker, and Vrouwtje Meijer ZILVER.This basic translation is from WieWasWie but I would ideally like a full translation. Is there anywhere I can find a template English translation of a Dutch civil marriage certificate? I am especially interested to know whether the certificate contains an exact address for either bride or groom, and also in the mention of their two children born prior to the marriage. Were 'still chuppah' marriages as common in 19th century Amsterdam as they were in Eastern Europe at this time?I'd also like to find original records relating to the parents of the bride and groom mentioned in the certificate but am struggling so far. Thanks for any help or guidance you can provide.
