I received my autosomal results from FTDNA (Y-DNA results still pending). No major surprises. My gene pool is not a mélange of several races and cultures like one sees in ANCESTRY.COM commercials: I have only European and Middle-Eastern ancestry. That figures for someone with an Italian mother and Italian maternal ancestors; and a Jewish paternal line. What did surprise me is that 16% of my genetic composition is formed by Ashkenazim in diaspora. I thought my Jewish ancestry was exclusively Sephardic.
