# Yacov (Toli) Tal ToledanoJ’ai le regret de vous annoncer le décès de Yacov Tal Toledano (1932-2021) connu également sous le nom de Toli Tal. Yacov était un descendant des Toledano de Meknès dont l’ancêtre Rabbi Shlomo, Rabbin et Dayan, avait émigré en Israël en 1858 où sa famille avait fait souche. Né à Jérusalem, Yacov Tal était ingénieur aéronautique. Il servit Tsahal dans l’armée de l’air qu’il quitta en 1975 avec le grade de Major. Il devint ensuite conseiller de l’armée de l’air panaméenne et de l’aviation civile. Il changea son nom de Toledano à Tal en 1955 à la demande du président Haim Weizmann pour les besoins d’une mission en Europe. En effet, selon les dirigeants israéliens de l’époque, Toledano ne sonnait pas suffisamment Israélien. Il reprit le nom de Toledano dans les années 2000. Durant ces 40 dernières années, Yacov Tal Toledano a reconstitué l’arbre familial des descendants de Rabbi Daniel Toledano (1570-1640). Rabbi Daniel arriva à Fès de Salonique en 1610. Yacov Tal Toledano a pu retrouver près de 10.000 descendants Rabbi Daniel. C’est au cours de sa recherche qu’il a pris contact avec moi au début des années 2000 et qu’ensemble nous avons identifié les 14 générations d’ancêtres Toledano de mon mari et de mes enfants. Son travail a fait l’objet de nombreuses publications dont deux ouvrages publiés en hébreu. Depuis un an, nous travaillions ensemble à une actualisation de son travail dans le but de le publier en anglais pour lui donner plus de visibilité. J’ai eu la chance de rencontrer Yacov récemment et de collaborer avec lui sur ce projet. C’était un homme brillant à l’esprit extrêmement vif. Il était capable au seul énoncé de leur nom de situer tous les Toledano (et leurs descendants non Toledano) qu’ils soient ou non descendants de Rabbi Daniel qu’ils soient marocains (de Meknès ou de Tanger), israéliens (sa branche), américains du sud (notamment péruviens), américains, canadiens, corses, algériens, italiens, égyptiens, portugais, etc.. Nous essaierons d’honorer son travail et de terminer ce que nous avons commencé avec lui. He served in the IDF Air Force, which he left in 1975 with the rank of Major. He then became an advisor to the Panamanian Air Force and Civil Aviation. He changed his name from Toledano to Tal in 1955 at the request of President Haim Weizmann for the needs of a mission to Europe. I had the chance to meet Yacov recently and to collaborate with him on this project. He was a brilliant man with an extremely sharp mind. He was able to locate all the Toledano whether or not they were descendants of Rabbi Daniel whether they were Moroccans (from Meknes or Tangier), Israelis (its branch), southern Americans (especially Peruvians), Americans, Canadians, Corsicans, Algerians, Italians, Egyptians, Portuguese, etc.We will try to honor his work and finish the project we started together.
