9 juin 2022English below# **Retrouvailles autour d’une photo**Il y a un peu plus d’un an, à la faveur d’une correspondance ADN, je retrouvais un cousin issu de germain que je ne connaissais pas, mais dont j’avais entendu parler. Gad Obadia, c’est le cousin en question, avait quitté le Maroc en août 1959, après qu’il ait passé un an dans les geôles marocaines pour avoir aidé des candidats (juifs marocains) à l’Alya.Nous identifiâmes notre lien familial et Gad (ou Messod du nom de mon arrière-grand-père) me raconta l’histoire fascinante de sa vie. Nous rétablîmes un lien rompu depuis près de 60 ans et il m’envoya plusieurs photos de famille, dont certaines de mes grands-parents.Mais surtout, il m’envoya la photo d’un cortège de mariage sur le côté duquel on pouvait voir deux enfants de 6 ou 7 ans. Grande fut ma surprise de constater que ces enfants n’étaient autres que mon frère et moi !## Qui sont les mariés ?Cette photo avait été prise après le départ du Maroc de Gad, au début des années 1960. Il reconnut deux ou trois personnes figurant sur cette photo, mais nous eûmes beau chercher, nous fûmes incapables d’identifier l’évènement ou le nom des futurs époux. Il y a quelques jours, je décidais de faire de cette photo, ma photo de profil sur Facebook. Quelques heures seulement après l’avoir postée, je reçus un message de Vincent David (Obadia) me demandant comment je pouvais être liée à sa famille. En effet, cette photo était celle du mariage de ses parents ! Tout s’explique. Vincent David est le neveu de Gad et le mariage auquel Gad n’avait pas pu assister était celui de son frère (donc celui de mon cousin issu de germain)… Le mystère de cette photo est enfin élucidé et grâce à elle j’ai retrouvé un nouveau cousin et j’ai relié avec une branche de ma famille !## Bienvenue !Bienvenue à tous ceux toujours nombreux qui nous ont rejoints cette semaine. Gad Obadia, the cousin in question, had left Morocco in August 1959, after he spent a year in Moroccan jails for helping candidates (Moroccan Jews) to Aliyah.We identified our family connection and Gad (or Messod after my great-grandfather) told me the fascinating story of his life. We re-established a broken bond for almost 60 years and he sent me several family photos, including some of my grandparents.But above all, he sent me the photo of a wedding procession on the side of which we could see two children of 6 or 7 years old. Great was my surprise to find that these children were my brother and me!## Who are the bride and groom?This photo was taken after Gad had left Morocco, in the early 1960s. He recognized two or three people in this photo, but we were unable to identify the event or the names of the future spouses. A few days ago, I decided to make this photo, my profile picture on Facebook. Just a few hours after posting it, I received a message from Vincent David (Obadia) asking me how I could be connected to his family. Indeed, this photo was that of his parents' wedding! The mystery of this photo is now solved. Vincent David is Gad's nephew and the wedding Gad had not been able to attend was that of his brother (so that of my second cousin)...
