16 octobre 2022# **Après la fête de Souccot**Souccot restera dans mon souvenir une des plus joyeuses fêtes que nous célébrions au Maroc.## Hoshana RabaAprès Souccot, la fête se poursuivait par Hoshana Raba, une soirée d’étude qui se terminait au milieu de la nuit. C’était une occasion pour nous (les enfants) de veiller et de lutter contre le sommeil en écoutant nos pères psalmodier et nos mères discuter.Le lendemain de la veillée, après la prière du matin, mon père revenait de la synagogue avec des feuilles de saule (Arava) avec lesquelles il avait coutume de nous donner de petits coups dans le dos. S’ensuivaient ensuite un jeu et des poursuites dans la soucca que nous défaisions. Les enfants s’emparaient des feuilles de palmier qui composaient le Srah (le toit de la soucca) et se poursuivaient, imitant notre père.## Simha TorahComme en France, la célébration de Simha Torah (don de la Torah) s’accompagnait de chants, de hakafot (danses avec la Torah autour de l’autel) et de distribution de bonbons. Le jour de Simha Torah, les adultes, mais également les enfants étaient appelés à la Torah et lisaient dans le parchemin la portion de Me’euna. Petite entorse à la règle, mon père insistait pour que, comme les garçons, je lise Me’euna dans le rouleau de la Torah devant toute la synagogue ! Peut-être était-ce parce que j’étais sa première fille née après 5 garçons et de surcroit jumelle d’un garçon. Je suis, à postériori, étonnée de la « modernité » de mon père, un homme pourtant très attaché aux traditions, et de la synagogue (DEJJ de Casablanca) qui permettait cela.## EtrogimAprès souccot, les cédrats (etrogim ou tronza) étaient conservés pour être confectionnés en confiture qui serait consommée à Tou biShevat (c’est encore notre coutume familiale aujourd’hui).Moadim le Simha et bonne fête à tous !# **After Sukkot**Sukkot will remain in my memory one of the happiest holidays we celebrated in Morocco.## Hoshana RabaSukkot continued with Hoshana Raba, a study evening that ended in the middle of the night. It was an opportunity for us (the children) to stay awake and fight against sleep while listening to our fathers chanting and our mothers chatting.The day after, after morning prayer, my father returned from the synagogue with willow leaves (Arava) with which he used to kick us on the back. Then followed a game and chases in the sukkah that we put down. Each of the children took the palm leaves that made up the Srah (the roof of the sukkah) and chased the other children pretending to hit them with them.## Simha TorahAs in France, the celebration of Simha Torah (gift of the Torah) was accompanied by songs, hakafot (dances with the Torah around the altar) and distribution of candies. On the day of Simha Torah, adults, but also children were called to the Torah and read in the parchment the portion of Me'euna. As a small deviation from the rule, my father insisted that, like the boys, I read Me'euna in the Torah scroll in front of the whole synagogue! Maybe it was because I was his first daughter born after 5 boys and, moreover, twin of a boy.
