Hi all, I'm hoping to get some clarification / confirmation of a Beila Schepartz. Beila is believed to the the mother of Moses, Samuel and Joseph Levy, the German trading brothers (Moses and Samuel were based in New York 1700s and Joseph in London, Moses was the father of Beila Abigaill Levy Franks, of letters fame).Beila is believed to have been born in Spain in around 1645. Would I be correct in assuming that Schepartz is a Sephardic name (apolgies for my ignorance, I'm not Jewish myself so my knowledge here is limited). Moses, Samuel and Joseph were born in Germany around 1665-1667, so if it can be confirmed that Beila's surname was Schepartz and born in Spain, could it be assumed that she escaped to Germany during the Inquisition? I am keen to research further into Beila and her family's history if possible and would be grateful for any tips. Many thanks in advance!
