*Certificate of Registration of Raffaele ALGRANATI. He was born in Rhodes in 1926.**The 1920's Rhodes Census shows his family, his parents being Joseph ALGRANATI & Ester ALGRANATI. Their place of birth is unkown. Two of their children were born in Izmir: Regina in 1917; Luisa in 1920. Their three other children were born in Rhodes: Matilda in 1924; Raffaele in 1926; Mardoche in 1928.**The family arrived in Rhodes in the early 1920's. In those years, due to regional and World wars, the Jewish community of Izmir faced a lot of emigration traffic, both inbound and outbound.**In Rhodes, with the Italian racial laws of 1938, departures increased significantly. At the beginning of 1939, the Italian government of the island even declared Jews who had been naturalized as Italians after 1919 or who had settled on the island after that date (primarily coming from the coasts of Asia Minor) as persona non grata. These undesirables, due to this expulsion, would be spared from the tragic events that followed. Raffaele and his family were not listed in the 1939 Rhodes Census.**Jacky Algranati*
