He worked in Rhodes for 10 years as a commercial agent. In 1944, he was deported by the Germans to the Auschwitz camp. Liberated by the Russians in 1945, he joined their army and served until October of the same year. After returning to Italy, he worked at the Information Service for Deportees in Rome. In 1947, he left for Africa, hired by the firm *Simon Israel* as a commercial agent in Luluabourg.
