NONSENSE FROM GENI. COM 1Geni. com is a genealogical website based on working together at the same genealogies. From time to time I checked some of the Sephardic genealogies with Amsterdam ties. I reported my findings from time to time on Facebookgroup Jewish Genealogical Portal, a very succesful and informative Facebookgroup, run by E. Randol Schoenberg , I find many of these genealogies, perhaps half or more, to be wanting. I can sometimes see where the mistakes come from, based as they are on indexes on the Internet instead of primary sources. Sometimes the complexity of Sephardic families is underestimated, sometimes the mobilty of the Sephardim is not taken into account. Sometimes these genaolgies are based on a fantasy or even lies, like this one about Manuel Cardoso Milao - see image and link. The link between Milao and Millington seems to be based on the identification Millington = Milao, and nothing else. Manuel Cardoso Milao is mentioned in the archives of the Inquisition at several times. he was born 1570 or 1571, and in 1621 he was still a bachelor (solteiro) - see the second image. A lot of research has already been done on the Milao family and none of that mentions a marriage of Manuel Cardozo Milao and / or a child born to him when he was 60 years old in Recife, who then went on to establish himself in Wirksworth in Derbyshire. The link in the first image is to the website of Marc Heymannn, who also does not mention a marriage of Manuel Cardozo. Other sources are not mentioned, so the story will have its origins in the thumb of the <Private User>.Literature about Manuel Cardozo Milao: H.P. Salomon, Alvaro melo, Portrait of a New Christian, 1982, Kellenbenz, Sephardim an der untern Elbe, 1958, I.S. Révah, Carsten Wilke, Uriel da Costa et les Marranes de Porto, 2004.The source for the second image: http://digitarq.dgarq.gov.pt/details?id=2299779 The link to Geni: https://www.geni.com/people/Manuel-Cardoso-de-Milao-Teixeira/6000000027082442460
