From the Portuguese Jewish Archives in Amsterdam (City Archives Asterdam 334, PJC 875)Em 27 ditto (Kislev 1722) declaramos nos abayxo irmados em como nos obrigamos a depachar nossos filhos fora desta ciudade entre Pesah e Sebuott proximo aio(?)Isaque de Sola me obligo por mi hijo Aron de SolasMosse Levy Maduro me obrigo por meo filho David Me obrigo por me filho Semuel do Porto (signed: ) Selomo Porto.I thought at first that this is another example of the Mahamad trying to stimulate its poor to emigrate. They did not succeed in this instance, for Semuel de Selomo Porto married in Amsterdam with Rachel de Valencia in 1727, only five years later. And Aron de Solas returned - or maybe never left - to marry Lea Pretto in 1737. David of Moses Levy Maduro might be the same as David Maduro married to Sara Lopes in 1742. From these marriages I see that Semuel Porto was born in 1706, Aron de Solla in 1707 and David Maduro in 1710. In 1722 they were quite young then, so maybe something else was going on? Maybe they were unruly adolescents?Aron de Solla is an ancestor of several famous Hahams, David Aaron de Sola, David de Sola Pool, Abraham de Solla.
