David Henriques de Castro (1826-1898), researched the cemetery Beth haim of the Portuguese Jews in Amsterdam. He employed a professional photographer to take images of a few hundred gravestones. Some of these photo's ended up in his book Keur van Grafsteenen. You can also find them on the webiste Dutchjewry.com. I enclose one example of such an image.
