A map of Surinam by Alexander de Lavaux, 1737 - 1757. It shows the plantations in all of Surinam, including those on the Joden Savanne. On the right and left hand side of the map are the names of the owners of the plantations. there are quite a number of Sephardim among them. Cohen Nassy, Meza, Granada, De Britto, De Fonseca, Nunes Henriques, Crasto, Messias, Carilho, De la Parra and many others. There is a downloadable version on the site of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which is fantastically detailed and can be endlessly enlarged.
