UPDATE: The 27th Conference of the Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies will take place 5-7 November 2017, in Philadelphia, PA, at the National Museum of American Jewish History and at Mikveh Israel - the Synagogue of the American Revolution (established 1740).The theme is "Crypto-Judaism in the Americas."Headline speakers are Dr. Ronnie Perelis and Dr. David Gitlitz, PhD.Perelis is Alcalay chair and associate professor of Sephardic Studies at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University. His book, “Narratives from the Sephardic Atlantic: Blood and Faith,” explores family via three crypto-Jewish autobiographies in the early modern Atlantic world.Gitlitz, an anthopologist, professor and author, will present “The First Practicing Crypto-Jewish Family in Mexico.”Many other speakers will participate in the program, which also includes a genealogy/DNA workshop, historical tours, a concert, film and more.
