This post was originally posted in the group "Passages of the Rite" by Mr. Abraham Katz. However, I think this touches also the S&P community. I'm copying the original text here:During the course of searching for a digitized copy of the Bordeaux Haggadah at the Ktiv Hebrew Manuscript website, I came across some interesting manuscripts. One of them was a prayer of thanks for the survival of King Louis XV composed by Jews in Bordeaux after an assassination attempt on the king’s life in 1757. I was curious as to why the Jews of Bordeaux undertook to compose such a prayer for King Louis XV. I am attaching the prayer and a brief report as to the attempt on King Louis XV’s life. I am also attaching several paragraphs I found at various websites as to the relationship between King Louis XV and the Jews of France and Bordeaux in particular. I am hoping someone can provide further information about that relationship. The manuscript can be viewed here: https://www.nli.org.il/en/discover/manuscripts/hebrew-manuscripts/viewerpage?vid=MANUSCRIPTS&docid=PNX_MANUSCRIPTS990001672910205171-1#$FL78270663
