Another Cansino mystery surrounding a Y-DNA match that takes us to Chile, more specifically to a mountainous and isolated region called Maule, with a rich wine producing tradition. The most distant ancestor on this Y-DNA line is Manuel Leyton de Mello, married to Violante Nunes de Saa, from Coimbra. I keep coming across the Nunes de Saa family. This is what I could find on Familysearch.org (not sure how reliable it is): when Manuel Leyton de Melo i Nuñez de Saa was born in 1590, in Coimbra, Portugal, his father, Manuel Leyton de Melo, was 30 and his mother, Violante Nunes de Saa, was 20. He married Isabel Aguilera in 1610, in Santiago, Chile. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died in 1680, in Santiago, Chile, at the age of 90.So this Y-DNA match is originally from a town called Rauco. While my mother matches two individuals who descend from a Manuel Cansino, born around 1860 in a town called Sauzal. As you can see in the map, both towns are relatively close to each other.
