## A problem, a solution, and a new problemRachel de Isaac de Casseres married David Lopes from Hamburg in 1707. In their prenup, she is assisted by her father Isaac, her uncle Moses Antunes, and Abraham de Casseres, her brother (the composer). What is the precise nature of their relationship? Could Daniel Pereira have been the first husband of Sara Lousada who later remarried Jacob Pereira?[[[https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/scans/334/5.2.6.3.1.1/start/10/limit/10/highlight/4](https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/scans/334/5.2.6.3.1.1/start/10/limit/10/highlight/4)](https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/scans/334/5.2.6.3.1.1/start/10/limit/10/highlight/4)](https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/scans/334/5.2.6.3.1.1/start/10/limit/10/highlight/4)In Livorno 1654 Daniel de Abraham Pereira married Sara de Jacob Israel Lousada (Registres de Ketubbot de la Nation juive de Livourne 1626-1890, by Alain Nedjar et al, 2020).This find also puts into perspective two strange marriages bans that I have had difficulty to explain. One is from The Hague, dated 20 March 1689, which concerns the upcoming marriage of Jacob Pereira and Sara Perera, widow of Daniel Perera, the other is from Amsterdam, dated 1 april 1689, and concerns the same persons. Both marriage bans do not mention her maiden name, Sara Lousada. I call them strange, because the actual marriage must have taken place much, much earlier, because son Judah had been born around 1671.[[https://archief.amsterdam/indexen/deeds/24ee84eb-8677-4d80-9f90-a707033f2363](https://archief.amsterdam/indexen/deeds/24ee84eb-8677-4d80-9f90-a707033f2363)](https://archief.amsterdam/indexen/deeds/24ee84eb-8677-4d80-9f90-a707033f2363)The chart below shows my hypothesis. It explains how Moses Antunes may have been the uncle of Rachel de Casseres.Next problem: if all of this is correct, why was the other daughter of Daniel not mentioned in any of the many last wills of Jacob Pereira.Next question: could Daniel de Abraham Pereira have been another son of Abraham Israel Pereira?Footnote: Jacob Pereira (1635 Madrid – 1706 Amsterdam) was the famous army provider for William , stadholder of Holland, King of England. He build a synagogue next to his house for the benefit of the The Hague Sephardic community circa 1700, established two Yesiba’s in Erets Israel (Jerusalem and Hebron), and one Yesiba for the students of the highest class of Ets Haim.in Amsterdam. Jacob married twice, and the children of his first and his second marriage quarreled among each other about his inheritance.
