........................Christ Church, Oxford, England................... .It was in the library here that a codex was deposited in 1683, the manuscripts it contained had belonged to Rabbi Jacob Franco Lagarto,(died 1667) and it is thought that he wrote them in Amsterdam prior to his departure to Brazil where he led the Sephardic Congregation on the Island of Itamaracá (1634/5). The documents remained unnoticed for almost 350 years but are now being transcribed and translated.
