https://youtu.be/qPOkFbAnxDgThis melody for Yigdal, based on the song 'Le Violon de Mon Père' by the French - Algerian singer Enrico Macias, is frequently sung at Misgav Ladach - my local synagogue in Jerusalem. Although most of the congregation is of North African descent, there is a significant Spanish and Portuguese component. Hazzan David Ben Soussan, who frequently acts as shaliach tsibur, was the hazzan of the Spanish and Portuguese synagogue in Bordeaux for many years, and melodies from that community are part of his repertoire. The video features pages from an 'Oraciones' book printed in transliteration with a Ladino (in the technical sense) translation. It was published in AM 5738 for the benefit of recently arrived emigres from the Iberian Peninsula by the 'Santa Hebra deTalmud Tora'. This sacred society was part of KK Bet Yaahkob, one of the antecedent communities of today's Portuguese Israelite Community. Please like and share. For an mp3 of this recording please visit my website, where there are over 60 selections available for downloading.http://danielhalfon.com/multitrack-recordings/
