https://youtu.be/HB8xPraI7A0When I became assistant Hazzan at Shearith Israel exactly 40 years ago, I was struck by the fact that, in contrast to the traditions of London and Amsterdam, there were no festive melodies in the New York repertoire that were specific to the Kaddish or Kedusha. Instead, the settings used were shared with other selections, such as Hallel or En Kelohenu.A particular favourite of my late father (z'l), this delightful festive London melody for Nakdishakh has a quintessentially English flavour. Although of entirely unrelated provenance, its opening bars bear an arresting similarity to one of the themes of the 1951 classic, 'Elizabethan Serenade' by the British composer Ronald Binge. Please like and share.A downloadable mp3 of this recording along with over 90 other tracks is available at http://danielhalfon.com/multitrack-recordings/
