While reading an article on arabs (jews and non-jews) on Manchester i came across the following passage: "two years after the founding of the S&P synagogue in Cheetham Hill Road in north Manchester in 1872, the Aleppo jews were expelled as heretics or karaite, and established the separate arab synagogue at Old Lansdowne Road in south Manchester". I can't remember the name of the article (i took a picture of the sheet) and its more commercially oriented than religiously, so i don't know how precise is the sentence. Can someone help me with a more precise definition of what happened, if anything? Thanks!
