This is a repeat of my post to the music and liturgy group:My friends from the New York and Philadelphia synagogues: I would like to see an informal conference organized at which we can discuss issues about our largely overlapping musical heritage. Topics I am thinking about include: 1) issues around congregational singing: making it happen more, making it happen more accurately; 2) preservation of our heritage, both in recordings and transcriptions; making sure that we do not have duplication of effort in the two communities; 3) the first two are a lot, but I would eventually like to discuss how we make sure that the tradition is transmitted to the next generation.
