https://youtu.be/RWR3LTaDA-c# Lekhu Venashuba- Introduction to Evening SelichotA unique feature of the Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi tradition is the short form of Selichot embedded in the evening service that is recited from the day following Rosh Hodesh Elul until Ereb Yom Kippur. The present recording is of the five Pesukim sung as an introduction to these Selichot. The provenance of this distinctive and haunting melody, reserved exclusively for the rendering of Tanachic verses during the penitential period is difficult to establish. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to identify anything that might qualify as a cognate in any other Sephardi or Mizrahi tradition. Please like and share.
