A variant, known as ‘the Dutch melody’ serves as a setting for Adon Olam in the Sephardi community of Gibraltar. Somewhat exceptionally for the Spanish and Portuguese tradition, the melody is based on the ’Spanish Phrygian’ or ‘Andalusian’ scale.
