https://youtu.be/PMPTUHIbtlc# Yigdal Elohim Chai - Pesach | New YorkIn Congregation Shearith Israel, the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in New York, this setting for Yigdal Elohim Chai is used on the first, second and eighth nights of Pesach. (On the seventh night, the anniversary of the crossing of the Red Sea, Yigdal is sung to a melody based on the Shirat Hayam.)There is no melody corresponding to this in the London community’s repertoire. Amsterdam, however, does have a variant - which rather than ending on the tonic, as it does here, resolves to the submediant, thereby casting the piece in a minor key.Tizku Leshanim RabbotPlease like and share.
