https://youtu.be/5OQnVQS29Es# Yehallelu Et Shem HashemThis formula of five verses drawn from various Tanachic sources is chanted at Shachrit on Mondays, Thursdays and Rosh Hodesh to accompany the Sepher as is returned to the Hechal. It is also sung on Purim, Hanukah and Chol Hamoe’d and whenever the Sepher is read in Minchah.Chanted by the congregation, the piece is a non-metric recitative with a distinct melodic progression. The first two verses are set in a major key, and the third is a transition to an embellished form of the minor-psalmody mode in which the final two verses are rendered. The variant presented here is that of the London Spanish and Portuguese community which is almost identical to the style of Congregation Shearith Israel in New York. In Amsterdam this formula is not sung, although - in all probability - it once was.H/T Daniel BaruchPlease like and share.
