https://youtu.be/bc7lb108s0c# Kaddish Yehe Shemeh - First Night Shalosh Regalim | LondonHazzan Eliezer Abinun (z'l) was for over four decades the trusted and faithful custodian of the London Spanish and Portuguese community's musical memory. Truly a Ne'im Zemirot Yisrael, he was blessed with an exceptional warm and mellow baritone voice, which infused the Tefilot with a resonance and depth not easily forgotten. If one item had to be chosen which best captured Mr Abinun's art, it might well be the melody for Yehe Shemeh sung on the first night of each of the Shalosh Regalim, and the eves of Simchat Torah and Shabbat Beresheet. Supported by the choir's extemporaneous harmonisation, his performance of this monumental piece, heralding the onset of Yom Tob, was nothing less than a transformative spiritual experience. The origins of this regal melody are unknown, and it has no counterpart in either New York or Amsterdam. For those of you not familiar with the Lauderdale Road Synagogue layout and furnishings, the background image shows the stairway leading to the choir stalls which are located immediately behind the Tebah. It was up those steps that the initiation of so many of us into this wonderful musical tradition began. Please like and share, and if you haven’t already, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. For an mp3 of this recording please visit my website, where there are over 190 selections available for free downloading.Mo’adim Lesimcha Chagim Uzmanim Lesasson.
