https://youtu.be/87PLniEA5w4?si=T0-k9OPGeHCoR64Y# Ya Vendra El Senor | AmsterdamHazzan Abraham Lopes Cardozo, in his volume ‘Sephardic Songs of Praise’, writes that the Piyyut 'Ya Vendra El Senor' was composed in Tangier in around 1600, and arrived in Amsterdam during the period of Shabetai Tsebi's influence in the mid 17th century. He notes that In recognition of Shabetai Tsebi's widely accepted claim to be the Messiah, the opening line and title of the poem was amended to ‘Ya Viene El Senor ‘The Lord is come’ (present tense). Once his messianic pretensions were discredited, however, the phrase reverted to its original form, set In the future tense (‘The Lord will come’). Worthy of note is the fact that 'Ya Vendra El Senor' is the only example of a piece in the Amsterdam repertoire in Judeo-Espanyol.
