https://youtu.be/WVWzNGD7DmI# Adon Olam - Aseret Yemei Teshubah | LondonAs with all Spanish and Portuguese communities, the London melody for Adon Olam during the Aseret Yemei Teshubah is based on the ‘Yedei Rashim’ Lachan. The London variant, however, differs markedly from both the New York and Amsterdam versions by introducing a modulation in the third bar, where it remains until reverting to the original key in the coda. Although nobody is quite sure how this arresting difference came about, it probably originated during the transcription of this melody for the de Sola/Aguilar anthology 'The Ancient Melodies of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews' published in 1857.This video is one of over 30 on my Selichot and Yamim Hanora’im playlist which you can find here.https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvd3h2QBHjxRC5cGNlE_frXW2TGPzsIRq
