Bartolomeo de Cases was a Spanish Jew who was accused of vandalising icons in Florence in 1493.What is the origin of the name "de Cases"? I don't remember seeing it in other Sephardic communities. (Except for one in Safed)Looking for the name de Cases/Cazes, I only find (supposedly) Italian Jews in Italy, and non-Jews in France and Canada. Of course the name is not very search-friendly...
