The **A Nação Hebraica** project is transcribing Account Books from the first London synagogue on Creechurch Lane beginning in 5436 (1676). The accounts, give insight into the “promesas” for synagogue for honors, life-cycle and other events. The table below shows occurrences for the synagogue honors "Sepher" and "Giro" over the first 5 1/2 years. For the first four years, the Sepher honor was exclusively mentioned and in the fourth year the Giro honor was introduced and became predominant. We initially thought that Sepher and Giro might be the same honor, but then we find that they are referred to in the same record. We are hoping that one of our S&P historians will be able to explain the differences between the two honors.
