A lot of confusion between the Portuguese (de) Piza family and the Italian Da Pisa family.Da Pisa is an Italian banking family of Roman origin (originally Da Sinagoga) that took on the name Pisa while living in Pisa.De Piza is a Portuguese family with descendants in many of the Western Sephardic communities. But what is the origin of the name Piza? Is it possible that Jews from Pisa ended up in Portugal? (I think the earliest I found was 15th century) The closest I came to a town with that name in Iberia is Andalusian "La Peza".
