Today in Jerusalem they are having a ceremony to honor Rabbi Moise Shimon Pessah, Chief Rabbi of Volos during the Shoah. Together with the archbishop of the town, they managed to save almost the entire Volos community, which helped save so much of my grandfather's family who had moved to Volos after Larissa and Salonika. He was also the student of my ancestor, Rabbi David Angel who I posted about many months ago and plan to post again about very soon. In addition, Rabbi Pessah helped save as much of the precious archive of the Beit Din and communities of Larissa and Volos, and today they reside in Machon Ben Zvi in Jerusalem. His memory is for a blessing to us all.
