A question about the Soncino/Sonsino family:My mother's great grand mother was a lady who married in Izmir Isaac Sidi who was my mother'great grand father. (beginning of the 19th century). She brought with her the "Firman Almaneli" - a gift to her descendants. This was a sort of bill of rights which was given to families who helped the Ottoman Empire. The Soncino family helped the Ottomans in their battle in Hungary on the 15th century.Research of many years did not answer -what was the private name of my mother's great grandmother?I know now her ancestors up to the 12th century back in Speir, Germany. What needed to be done in order to know her private name?
