Growing up my father spoke to me in Ladino/Judeo Espanol.I was under the impression that words from other countries were mixed in to the Spanish root were due to travel .When i moved to the USA where there is a strong Portuguese population i found that many of the words were in fact Portuguese and not Spanish. Most astounding was the pronounciation Assenta embasho for sit downVa Avagar for go slow and when i was petulant the word Ainda are some examples I am curious as to wether this is Gallego or did the family go through Portugal before going East to Turkey/Rhodes?.Is this common amongst all Ladino speakers or just the Rhodeslis?
