I recently found out that my husband is descendant of the Jew Rodrigo Sánchez from Spain who traveled with Colon to the Americas in 1492 and was a Jewish Sephardi from Spain. Rodrigo Sanchez established in Dominican Republic and formed his family, very known descendants are Franciso del Rosario Sanchez. Francisco del Rosario Sánchez (March 9, 1817 – July 4, 1861) was a politician and founding father of the Dominican Republic. He is considered by Dominicans as the second leader of the 1844 Dominican War of Independence. The Current president of Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina is also related to my husband and the Sánchez family related back to Rodrigo Sánchez.
