Reading recent posts the thought arisesthat the famed Portuguese 'conversos' as in large numbers of our people converted forcefuly who carried on secretly as Jews is maybe just a lovely story and that like Spain they did convert and go to Church every Sunday and celebrate numerous Saints days. So after a few generations they were Christian. When you look at the numbers that came out and the reality of their religeous attachment it really does make one wonder as was it opportunistic or a real wish to return to their roots. In theory l have a relative who left Portugal in 1750 250 years after the great event.. all very odd and just as odd that true Sephardim accepted them !
