Thank you for accepting me into the group. I have been researching my husband's Jewish ancestry. His Y-line family and other branches (including Montefiore) were long associated with Bevis Marks. Prior to WW2 his family surname had been Cohen since the time of the marriage of Samuel Cohen to Rachel Buzaglo in 1779 but there is an oral tradition that they were known as Cohen De Lara before they went to America via Cuba, presumably at some time before that date.
