Dear all, Really pleased to now be part of this group, thank you. Like many of you I am a Nunes Vaz, Senior Coronel, Meldola and Henriques descendent amongst other names. I have many questions and if you don’t mind I will drop them in line by line slowly so as not to bombard you. I was lucky to find more details on the paternal line on my Henriques side who I trace only so far as Bayonne. Sara Moses Henriques b.1778 Ams d.1855 on her father’s side of was the daughter of Moses Aaron Henriques b.1736 BayonneMoses was son of Aaron Moses Henriques and Abigael Aaron Ferrano - she was born in 1712 - unsure where but maybe Bayonne. I know their full names as I was very lucky to find their Ketubah on the website of the National Library of Israel. I therefore know that Aaron’s father was Moses and Abigael’s father was Aaron. I have had some assistance from the Jewish genealogical society in France who said the F may have been an S and indeed in Akevoth there is only one Ferrano (my ancestor) and many Serrano. They seem to be from Spain, Italy and Serbia. The ketubah for Aaron Moses Henriques and Abigail Aaron Ferrano (married in 1733/1734) says that Moses Henriques was deceased at the time of marriage. Further back than this I am struggling to connect up any dots. I tried a fairly simple search on the naming order Aaron Moses/Moise Henriques and vice versa and it does match some of the Danish Henriques family but I didn’t find anything further on that. Moses van Aaron Henriques married Sara Ledesma and her step father and guardian at the wedding was Abraham Fernandez Henriques from Suriname as was she. Her actual parentage is Ledesma and Baruch de Castro. I wondered if there was any connection between these Henriques but it is nothing more than hypothesis. Interestingly the Baruch de Castro line is also Henriques on the maternal side. A nice little point is that Raphael Meldola b.1685 d.1748 Livorno was the Chief Rabbi of Bayonne. It might be that he and the Henriques ancestors were friends and so it was later arranged that their grandchildren Sara Moses Aaron Henriques and David Meldola would marry in Amsterdam. So, key questions…can anyone please advise on where I am missing synergies? Does anyone have any idea how to trace back this Ferrano/Serrano line?Does anyone see how the Henriques Bayonne line might be traced back further?Thank you for your consideration of these points.Jeremy
