Does anyone have information regarding Abraham & David Mercado Florez(s). They either moved to or were born in Chinu, Monteria on the Caribbean coast of Colombia circa 1850 but am not sure, it could have been earlier. They later moved to Cartagena de Indias. The names David and Abraham Mercado are to this day repeated in every subsequent generation of my family. Any lead would be appreciated. I have found these two names mentioned together in Amsterdam in 1654 as part of a group that paid a ransom for 23 Jews that had been "saved" by Jacques de la Motthe, captain of the ship St. Charles. One of the passengers on board was Judith Mercado. These two same names appear in London and Barbados in 1655. David Mercado died in Barbados in 1685 and is buried in its Jewish cemetery, his father Abraham returned to Amsterdam where he died in 1669. I cannot find further mention of the family after this.
