Some may be interested in this newsclip from KOAT-TV in Albuquerque. Hispanic women of Jewish ancestry (most of the old families who arrived n 1598) have a very heavy incidence of BRCA cancer. Dr. Paul Duncan, now retired, noticed this quite a number of years ago and conducted major studies as did UNM. These women carry the SAME mutation as Ashkenazi women. Thus it is not Ashkenazi, as is often stated, but from before the split into Ashkenazim and Sephardim - just Jewish. Dr. Mike Linver, in the segment, speaks internationally and has practiced here for some 30 years. Also featured is the wonderful Bernadette Martinez, a survivor. Both have spoken at our annual Jewish Genetics Conferences here in Albuquerque. The third annual conference will be all day Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the ABQ JCC, with more speakers.
