Ohel Jacob is the title of a book of Talmudic Aforisms written by Jacob Franco Lagarto the Haham, (Chief Rabbi), of the Sephardic Congregation on Itamaracá island in 1635.Isaac Aboab, who first came to Brazil seven years later in 1642 owned a copy of Lagarto's book, and it was listed on page 16 of an auction catalogue prepared in 1693 by David Tartas for the sale of Aboab's collection of 400 books. This catalogue was examined by John Christopher Wolf and registered in his seminal "Bibliothecae Hebraeae" of 1727..
