Hi everyone, I’m still exploring my De Pinna line and I’ve fortunately been able to identify a few additional generations, but I’ve found something confusing that I would love some input on. My 6x Great Grandfather was David Sarfaty De Pinna who married Flora Botibol in 1779 in London (per Bevis Mark’s records). Unfortunately, I can’t find any other details about David’s life - and strangely, his ketubah doesn’t mention any father (thanks to Yaakov Marrache Fischel for the translation help).I have a strong suspicion that David is the son of Joshua Haim Sarfaty De Pinna and Esther Cohen Faro, both of Amsterdam. He is why I think this:1. Transactions (from the Jewish Historical Society of England) printed an article with an account from Joseph Cortissos which lists 7 children of Joshua and Esther, one of whom is named David.2. David’s first-born son was named Joshua (hinting that his father could be named Joshua).3. David and Jacob De Pinna are listed as the godfathers for some of each other’s children, which could indicate that they were brothers (and there is ample evidence that Jacob is the son of Joshua Haim Sarfaty De pinna - although Jacob also interestingly has no father listed in his ketubah from Bevis Marks)So I’m curious if anyone has any additional details about David Sarfaty De Pinna or his parentage? Does it seem that Joshua De Pinna and Esther Cohen Faro probably ARE his parents? And does anyone know why neither David’s nor Jacob’s fathers are listed on their ketubah (David Mendoza, do you have insight here)? Thanks for the help!
