I am researching a supposedly Jewish family from the Leeds/ Bradford area. Apparently there is a rabbi somewhere in the family history and certain Jewish customs/ phrases have been passed down the family although they are no longer practising. The family names were LEEDHAM, BAILEY and HASLAM. I was initially dubious about a Jewish connection but have recently found a tiny clue that might bear this out.I gather the name HASLAM might have Sephardi origins (as well as connections to Lancashire) and am wondering if anyone can advise me.I have a Mary HASLAM/ HESLAM marrying a Joseph LEEDHAM in CHURCH in 1825 in Leeds.Hmmm.
