In the spirit of the recent posts about intra-community relations and communications, I recently came across these two 1743 notarial documents from Bayonne (Not. R. DuClerq). They appear to deal with an envoy from Jerusalem named Rabbi Abraham “Abenazer” collecting money ($1,500 livres). The documents are signed by two syndics of the Bayonne Community (Moseh Robles and Isaac Nunes Tavares). Various other people are mentioned, including Jacques, George and Louis Cardose. The is also a reference to a Will, perhaps, or a marriage contract, dated 25 Sept 1689 for a Beatrix Pardo, widow of Thomas Rodrigues of Peyrehorade. Unfortunately, the Rabbi’s hebrew signature is damaged. Can anyone tell who he is? Is the name correct? José Raúl CardozeJarrett Ross Moseh Robles is younger brother of your Isaac Robles.http://earchives.le64.fr/img-viewer/FRAD064003_IR0001/Bayonne/3E3364/viewer.html?ns=FRAD064004_3E3364_0001.JPGhttp://earchives.le64.fr/img-viewer/FRAD064003_IR0001/Bayonne/3E3364/viewer.html?ns=FRAD064004_3E3364_0005.JPG
