**Annual Memorial Prayer for Jews Left Behind**This Shabbat,** **Shearith Israel will recite a special *Hashcaba *in memory of Jews from Arab lands who were "left behind" and whose burial places can no longer be easily visited. In 2014, November 30 was established as a **Day of Commemoration for the Jewish refugees from Arab countries and Iran**. This is a day to remember and mourn the ending of Jewish communities in the Middle East and North Africa in the 20th century.Last year, two members of the Iraqi Jewish Community in Montreal, Sass Peress and Sami Sourani, began an effort to have synagogues throughout the Jewish world recite a memorial prayer on November 30. This effort was begun at our sister synagogue, the Spanish & Portuguese synagogue of Montreal. This year, Shearith Israel in New York, as well as Bevis Marks in London, together with dozens of other synagogues throughout the world are joining in this collective memorial prayer. **The special *Hashcaba *will be recited at the conclusion of the Torah portion about 10:20 AM. **Please join with us and with communities throughout the Jewish world for this short but meaningful prayer.
