I have attached a Dotar petition for Simha, daughter of Jonatan Israel of Hamburg. The petition states that Jonatan is the son of "H" Moses of Hamburg. Simha entered the lottery in the 1690's (but perhaps earlier). Am I safe in assuming (at least initially) that this "H Moses" refers to Moses Israel, Haham of Hamburg (died 1673)? According to Studemund Haley's "Biographisches Lexikon der Hamburger Sefarden" Haham Moses did have a son Jonatan. Jonatan's entry in that book does not list his children, though in another entry a Simha de Jonatan Israel marries Isaac de Eliau Jessurun. If I am correct, this Simha eventually moves to Amsterdam and her son marries a great nephew of HH Moses Raphael de Aguilar and a grandson eventually marries a daughter of of HH Isaac Abendana de Britto--so the rabbinic connection seems to continue.
