ADDENDUM: WHERE IS THE CERVERA BIBLE REALLY FROM?Javier Bona brought to my attention that the origin of this Bible has been questioned and discussed by scholars.Though Cervera in Catalonia had a very important Jewish presence, there are other towns with that name in the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon: Cervera de Buitrago, Cervera del Llano, Cervera de Pisuerga, Cervera del Rincón, Cervera del Maestre, Cervera del Río Alhama or Cervera de los Montes. The following article by Katrin Kogman-Appel abunds in this and other aspects of Hebrew Book Illumination in Late Medieval Iberia (published at a later date than the references I gave in my previous post).
