hello again ! I have another mystery ,I am trying to solve, which I am looking at in relation to trying to find clues to the Rodrigues branch of my tree - this 'wild card' is in connection to my 4 x ggrandfather David Rodrigues [b.1771, London] - and his brother Abraham Rodrigues [b.1772 ,London] . Abraham Rodrigues married Leah de Isaac de Joseph Nunes Martines [20 Elul 5562] , and I have found references to him being referred to as 'Abraham [The Magnate] Rodrigues' and thought that this would give me more clues as to where they came from etc. - but it hasn't, Ive continued to draw a complete blank in all my searches . In continuing to be baffled by this and in looking at Abraham's birth/circumcision records in the BMA ref. 1393 , I have found though, that his godparents were a 'Daniel de Castro' and a 'Ribca Rodrigues '. I have read some articles on the 'De Castro' family in London and Ireland as well as further afield - and I am wondering whether this reference to 'the magnate' could just possibly be a more a reference to his 'god parents' being business magnates of sorts ? I feel I need to be getting a big map on the wall [with plenty of space around it ] to be able to work visually with all the chronologies and geographies.
