Hello everyone. I was recently struggling through the 1600 or scans for the Catholic parish of Saint-Étienne-Arrive-Labourd that covers St. Esprit, France, the Bayonne suburb where many Portuguese and Spanish New Christians lived (many later became Jews after 1723 if they didn't relocate before that). I put together some links to “navigate” the scans to assist in finding the places in the scans where baptisms, marriages and burials can be found. I didn’t provide links for the period after the late 17th century since by then New Christians who were crypto-Jews stopped reporting these life events to or recording them with the parish priests (they simply paid them their fee). You will find quite a few entries of interest, though not as many as you might expect. I think the reason is that families stopped reporting to the parish very early (or never reported), and many businessmen who appear in the notarial records for Bayonne actually lived in the surrounding towns, not St. Esprit itself.Hope this is clear and helps.Archive Summaryhttp://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ead.html?id=FRAD064003_IR0002&c=FRAD064003_IR0002_G267&qid=First pagehttp://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f1Baptêmes: 1622-1683GG1 (1622-1631)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f310GG2 (1632-1657)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f377GG3 (1657-1674)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f524GG4 (1675-1683) (GG Supplement 6)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f649Baptêmes, mariages, sépultures 1684-1692 GG5 (B: 1689-1692// M: 1684-1692 // S: 1688-1692)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f748Sépultures: 1633-1657 GG6http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f830Baptêmes(????), mariages, sépultures: 1668-1674GG7http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f861Mariages: 1633-1656 GG8http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f903Mariages, sépultures 1675-1687 GG9 (M: 1675-1684 //S: 1675-1687)http://earchives.le64.fr/archives-en-ligne/ark:/81221/r17845zfqbs5vk/f944
