Good afternoon from New Jersey. I am battling to figure out my mother´s Sephardic ancestry. The most recent Jewish last name is that of her great great great grandmother, Cansino. A woman born in the early 1800s, possibly in Mexico. On the other hand, several of my mother´s matches can be traced back to an ancestral couple, formed by Jacob Nunez Vas and Simcha Seneor Coronel, who lived in Leghorn in the 1760s. Another set of matches lead to the family Levi-Valensi, who was also present at some point in Leghorn. I feel I am so close, and yet so lost... Any help would be greatly appreciated, or perhaps referrals for a good professional in Sephardic genealogy, both genetic and traditional.
